Dans le body:
Avoid the trap

The trap

Have you ever followed anyone closely while walking on the sidewalk? Closely enough to notice different shapes of billowing smoke above them? Guided by this smoke, you approach the person and pass by them, only to realize that the smoke is emanating from their electronic cigarette. The cloud of smoke may look good, but is it really good for you? Many people use vaporizers without being informed about them and believe they are harmless to their health. We now introduce you to facts and arguments to help you refuse your first electronic cigarette and help you to encourage your friends and family not to fall into the trap.

Don't fall into the trap!

HOW TO SAY NO TO VAPING PRODUCTS

It's not easy to say no and express your opinion, especially when it is contrary to your friends' opinion. It's important to respect your opinions, but you don't want to be rejected by your friends. In a group setting, the pressure can become strong and we understand that. So we've prepared some simple techniques to help you say no:

Icon

The polite way

"No thanks, I don't vape." (remember the facts on vaping so as not to cave under pressure.)

Icon

The funny way

"No, I would rather eat a real strawberry than try your thing with artificial strawberry flavours." Be creative, you can also invent your own humorous response.

Icon

The expert

"Did you know that if you don't smoke cigarettes but you vaporize, you are three times more likely to try cigarettes in a year or two? And then you don't know if you're going to get hooked on it or not."

Icon

The skipped record

You answer the same thing to every question: "No thanks." The person doesn't understand? You leave.

Icon

The psychologist

Someone offers you a puff? Ask them why, without judging! "Why do you vape, really?" That obliges them to justify and think about their actions.

Icon

The 3 Musketeers

In a group, being several people who do not vaporize increases the ability to resist group pressure. Surround yourself with your best allies!

Icon

The detour

Find a temporary excuse without clearly stating your disagreement. "No, thanks, Bob's waiting for me..." or "No, thanks, I just ate a gum."

Icon

The radical

Sometimes, the only way to have your choice and opinions respected is to change your group of friends!

YOU'VE FALLEN INTO THE TRAP AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET OUT?

You'd like to stop vaping? Below are a few suggestions you can use to help you or motivate you to stop:

  • Team up and ask a friend to stop vaporizing with you.
  • Draw up a list of reasons why you want to quit.
  • Ask a nurse, a school counsellor or your family doctor to help you.
  • Avoid situations where you run the risk of being tempted.
  • Reward your successes and don't get discouraged!
